Two stage bicycle test Print E-mail
This is a submaximal test conducted on a bicycle ergometer. Heart rate is monitored at two different workloads.

Instructions:
1. First workload is chosen so that heart rate stabilises between 120 and 140 bpm after 5 minutes of bicycling.
2. Second workload is chosen so that heart rate stabilises between 140 and 160 bpm after an additional 5 minutes of bicycling.
3. Enter workload in watts and heartrate for the two workloads

Background:


This test is based on the linear relationship between heart rate and VO2. By extrapolating the measured values up to the estimated maximal heart rate, maximal oxygen uptake is calculated.
